Applying a finish to a veneer sheet ahead of time. Veneering a dry walled surface, not recommended.

Hi.
I bought a couple of sheets of hickory veneer from you a month or so ago.
I would like to know if it's OK to lacquer the veneer sheets before applying them to the wall.
I'm guessing it is, but just wanted to check anyway!  Jim

Yes, you can apply a finish to the veneer sheet ahead of time.  I prefer a varnish finish on the veneer

rather than lacquer. A varnish finish is way more protective finish for the veneer than a lacquer finish.

Please note:  We do not recommend that you apply veneer directly onto a drywall surface.
