Refacing Kitchen Cabinets With Wood Veneers

Applying PSA peel and stick wood veneers to your old kitchen cabinets can make your cabinets look brand new instantly and its easy.  There's no mystery.  Its so easy that a child can do it.

The PSA peel and stick veneers are real wood.  The wood veneers are paper backed,  about 1/64" thick, and they can be cut with a scissors or razor knife.

First, clean the surfaces of your  cabinets. Get off the dirt and grease. Fill the dings and dents with wood putty.  Sand the surface just enough to get it smooth.  Then, apply a couple of coats of paint or varnish (varnish is best).

The PSA peel and stick veneers stick best to painted or varnished surfaces.  2 coats of finish is usually sufficient.

Let dry and scuff sand the surface a little - this helps the PSA peel and stick veneer to adhere better.

If possible, cut your PSA peel and stick veneer a half inch larger all around than the surface that you are veneering.  Peel off the release paper and stick the veneer right down!  It is that easy!  Apply pressure with a blunt piece of wood or a wallpaper seam roller to help the veneer stick better.

Trim off the excess for an exact fit.  If you are veneering inset areas, you will cut your veneer to the exact size and you will be careful when you stick the veneer down.

You can finish and stain the PSA peel and stick wood veneer the same way that you would finish any wooden surface.  It usually takes about 3 coats of varnish.
